How Do I Become a Racecar Driver?
So you want to be a racecar driver? Well I will tell ya. The first thing you will need is lots of money! .......... However you can get it!
That's basically the way to become a racecar driver. Buy a car and race it at your local track. The days of a long lineup of car owners are way overshadowed by the long line of wannabe racecar drivers.
I have raced for years, but only out of my pocket, or begging and borrowing money to race from anyone who would listen to my appeals for sponsorship. If you want to race bad enough, then you will... one day. It just takes a lot of drive in you, for you to become a driver. How motivated are you about wanting to become a driver? My suggestion is always for a person to get a street stock or mini stock and race it at your local track for a season or two, and try to make every race, every week of their season. This will really test your "wantingness" to race! It becomes a struggle keeping that car on the track week after week, and if you can do it in a street or mini stock, and be at the races week after week, you will become a racecar driver.
After your two year course in hard knocks you will be ready to get a modified or late model, and hopefully not tear it up from lack of prior knowledge of racing. Remember it is a lot cheaper to fix a street or mini stock after hitting the wall than a late model or modified.
Now if you cant afford a car then get into karting, it is less costly in the long run and you will be going fast, and learning things that will help you tremendously, in the event you are able to get in a racecar.
I hope this has been helpful to you.
